Dr. Elizabeth Menzel received her PhD in dentistry at the Stellenbosch University in the Republic of South Africa. She continued with her postgraduate studies in Germany as an assistant at the Department of Orthodontics at the Kiel University.

She completed her specialist training for the treatment of temporomandibular disorders at prof. Axel Bumann. She became qualified as a specialist in Orthodontics by defending her thesis at prof. Schopf at the University in Frankfurt. At present, Dr. Menzel works in a private orthodontic practice in Herrsching am Ammersee, Germany. She also works in the UK and Vilnius, Lithuania, where she focuses on treating patients with severe temporomandibular and mandibular disorders. She is a member of the multidisciplinary international network for treating craniomandibular disorders (CMD).

Dr. Elizabeth Menzel is an internationally recognised expert particularly in the treatment of temporomandibular disorders and holistic approach to the treatment of orthodontic anomalies. She is much in demand as a lecturer at orthodontic conferences and courses all over the world.


In her conference course Dr. Menzel will focus on:

  • Orthodontic treatment with regard to correct function of the temporomandibular joint and the orofacial system in general, advices and tips how to achieve a functional, aesthetic and stable outcome.
  • Connections between orthodontic anomalies and TMJ-associated problems, headaches, neck tension, sleep disorders, ear problems, poor posture.
  • Orthodontic treatment of temporomandibular joint ranging from the causes of pathology to diagnosis, treatment and stabilisation
